The heart of youth work in Herrsching: In the “Stellwerk”, House of Youth, young people meet more frequently again after the pandemic and also seek conversations with social educators.

At the invitation of the local council, representatives of youth welfare and the Herrsching police describe the situation of young people in the town.
After the pandemic, there will be a need for more frequent conversation, they say.
When it comes to drugs, no increase in consumption has been observed.
Youth work is to be intensified in the Breitbrunn district.
Herrsching – The youth signal box house is the “heart” of youth work, according to director Christian Kreilkamp, who reports to the local council about many well-attended events that can now take place again after the pandemic.
The U18 election, for example, a summer festival, graffiti and music production workshops, cooking events on Fridays and weekly girls' days with changing offerings.

A participation evening for young people recently took place in Breitbrunn, after which activities are now being planned for this year and a space for regular meetings is being sought.
There is also a new youth advisory board with Lea Harsch and Felix Störig from Breitbrunn.
Since Corona there has been a younger audience in the Herrsching youth club
Since Corona, the audience at the youth club has been very young, aged 12 to 15, and some even younger.
The young people come to spend their free time, relax and get in touch with the staff.
The employees are “specifically perceived as educational specialists,” explains Kreilkamp.
There is an “extreme need” for individual case advice, which is used by around ten percent of the approximately 100 people who are counted in the youth center every month.
Young people in Herrsching deal naively with the topic of drugs
Topics include love, relationships, school, domestic violence and drug use, according to Julia Schmidbauer, head of the social affairs department at the municipality of Herrsching.
During the discussions, she observed that young people dealt with the topic of drugs naively; this circumstance required a lot of clarification from social educators.

Herrsching's youth meets at the train station and the library
Schmidbauer also reported an “increased lack of commitment” that does not only occur among young people.
According to street worker Jan Pleines, the situation at Herrschinger train station is unchanged.
He notices neither an increased frequency nor more drug consumption.
Local councilor Dr.
Rainer Guggenberger (citizens' community) has a different impression.
He reported on groups consuming drugs there.
According to Pleines, the train station is a popular meeting place, as is the TSV skate park and the covered library.
Two youth groups are on the move - one with twelve to 14 year olds and one with young adults aged 18 and over.
The street worker has known a repeat offender who was imprisoned in 2023 for three and a half years, as he said, and is accompanying him to a court hearing in a few days.
The young people have trust in the social workers.

Local councilor Hannelore Doch (CSU) pointed Pleines to the youth meeting point at the cemetery and Wolfgang Darchinger (Greens) described a case of violence in front of his shop.
“The potential for violence is increasing,” says Pleines since the pandemic.

What do young people want?
At the most recent meeting with forty people in Breitbrunn, a village shop, a youth club and a recreational sports facility were discussed, said Kreilkamp.
Covered seating is an issue for the Herrschingers, as the existing ones at TSV and the library are not ideal.
The kids also wanted trash cans.
Local councilor Leo Gruber (citizens' community) asked whether young people feel comfortable in Herrsching.
Kreilkamp assumes this, as he said.
Many people took advantage of the club's offer.
Police Chief Inspector Patrick Ortmann from the Herrsching Police Department takes care of youth matters in the inspection area.
This includes prevention measures in schools and the topics of drugs, domestic violence, hate on the Internet and new media.
Ortmann makes contact with young people, checks on them and assures the council members that he will go home happy if he does not have to punish young people.
But he also says that the police must take action in the event of a violation.
Parents allow minors to consume e-cigarettes, which is prohibited in Herrsching
The big issues are e-cigarettes, the consumption of which is prohibited under the age of 18, but is often tolerated by parents.
Young people also smoke or snort bath salts, air fresheners and herbal mixtures, which is extremely popular because of the cannabinoids they contain, but is also questionable.
The New Psychoactive Substances Act is now having an effect and has curbed consumption.
Ortmann expects legal cannabis consumption to come into force in April.
It is not yet known how the campaign to decriminalize adult consumers and combat the black market will be implemented.
Initially, it would probably not be pharmacies and shops that would offer the substances, but rather cannabis clubs.
It is still unclear where the substance can be consumed.
It probably amounts to prohibition zones in front of schools, daycare centers and youth facilities.
The police work preventatively and repressively, department head Winfried Naßl explained to the local council.
Officials contact people and inform them about the rules.
However, you would also have to intervene if illegal actions were taken.
This is usually the case during inspections.
There were 35 cases in connection with the Narcotics Act in 2023, the vast majority of them involving cannabis.
There was no huge increase in Herrsching.
