In this department hit hard by medical desertification, elected officials ask residents to testify to their difficulties

Enough is enough !

Faced with the glaring lack of doctors in Loiret - one of the most deprived areas in France - the department's elected officials are appealing to the people to make their anger heard...

Throughout the month of March, residents of Loiret will be able to report on the problems they are encountering, in notebooks of grievances which will be made available in town halls or on the community's website at nossante.loiret.fr.

Doctors will also be able to contribute if they wish.

A thousand testimonies are hoped for

Do you have a treating doctor?

When was your last consultation?

Have you ever given up on treatment due to lack of an appointment?

These are some of the questions residents are invited to answer.

The documents will then be collected and sent to Paris to challenge the government.

“It’s a call for help at the national level,” says the president of the departmental council, Marc Gaudet, who hopes to collect a thousand testimonies.

However, communities have been mobilized for several years already.

In the region, in the municipalities or in the department, major resources are committed to paying doctors, creating health centers, etc.

But this is not enough.

“It’s like emptying the sea with a teaspoon!”

», adds Marc Gaudet.

“We are going to request a meeting with Catherine Vautrin and Frédéric Valletoux to give them these testimonies, and we hope to encourage them to legislate so that doctors settle in deficit areas,” adds the elected official.

On the map of France, Loiret is not only one of the departments least well equipped with doctors but also one of those where the average age is the highest.

As a result, the shortage is likely to last, and at the current rate, it is estimated that it will take at least ten years to see the situation improve.
