There is a new music festival in Freising: The “Indie-Go” in the Lindenkeller offers a stage for newcomers – but is by no means intended to be a “one-hit wonder”.

Freising

– If you like indie sounds or would like to discover new artists, you should mark Friday, March 22nd in your calendar: Then the “Indie-Go” youth band festival will take place for the first time in Freising’s Lindenkeller.

In an interview, initiator Kolja Briesen (19) talks about the Freising music scene, the origins of the festival and what the audience can expect.

Mr. Briesen, how did you come up with the idea of starting the festival?

This came about from a conversation with a band colleague.

I am a guitarist and singer in two bands myself.

We talked together about the last performances and realized that they were actually rather small, more of an open stage.

We thought it would be cool to perform not just in front of 20 people, but on a larger scale.

What opportunities does Freising offer small artists?

There are actually still very few.

There is the Long Night of Music here and this year also the Prima Leben and Stereo.

But that's more for people who already have stage experience.

For the “Indie-Go” we therefore based ourselves on the “Saitensprung” in Pfaffenhofen.

This is an annual festival just for young artists.

That's how we do it in the Lindenkeller.

300 people fit in there.

Of course it would be a dream to fill the space.

Who is “Indie-Go” aimed at?

The official organizers are the city youth welfare office and the youth city council, which is why our festival is primarily aimed at teenagers and young adults.

But in principle it is of course open to everyone and we are happy about everyone.

We simply want to create an offer that enriches the music scene.

And with the festival we want to show that it doesn't always have to be just a Taylor Swift concert - although that's of course cool.

But a small indie festival that only costs eight euros to enter can also be very cool.

Especially since we don't just want to play, we also want to have an exchange with the audience.

Who will be performing in the Lindenkeller on March 22nd?

From 8 p.m. to midnight four bands will be on stage: Midnight Poets Club, a band from Pfaffenhofen with ballads and guitar sound.

15 Steps Closer from Freising plays more alternative rock, DaWarWas from Munich has many well-known German-language songs in its repertoire.

And the indie rock band Blue Intended, of which I am also a member, plays rockier indie with socially critical lyrics.
