On Saturday evening (February 24, 2024) Giovanni Zarrella presented Roland Kaiser's anniversary show.
The three-hour show is being hotly debated by hit fans online.
Offenburg – The “Giovanni Zarrella Show” on February 24, 2024 has a very special motto: “Giovanni Zarrella presents: 50 years of Roland Kaiser”.
“The focus is on the emperor’s life’s work: hits from five decades of music history, which are presented in new live arrangements and exclusive duets,” ZDF promises its TV viewers in a press release.
However, Schlager fans' opinions on the anniversary show vary widely.
“Old people’s home” and “borderline texts”: ZDF viewers discuss Roland Kaiser’s anniversary show
Roland Kaiser (71) is celebrating his hit anniversary with a big ZDF show.
He is not alone on stage, but has invited his hit colleagues, anecdotes are exchanged and Roland Kaiser's career is looked back on.
The audience in the studio swayed to the biggest hits for three hours - the atmosphere couldn't be better.
Online viewers are becoming more critical.
“Fewer duets would be good for the show,” writes one viewer on X (formerly Twitter).
This user also shares this opinion and writes: “Couldn’t they have just let Roland Kaiser sing?”
“2 hours of 50 years of Roland Kaiser would have been enough just with him singing songs,” said another comment.
Another point of criticism is that the show was recorded in December 2023.
“It's a shame, the show could really have been shown live.
And not just months later,” said one TV viewer.
“The whole thing live (perhaps on MDR) with the Dresden Philharmonic would have been pretty good, I think,” said another comment.

But the guest list is also picked apart by TV viewers.
There are comments here like “Bülent Ceylan doesn’t work at all”, “It’s a bit like being in a retirement home, isn’t it?” or “Oli P. sings a Kaiser cover.
This is bodily harm!” to read.
“The lyrics are really borderline,” complains this fan – and agrees with Kerstin Ott.
Kerstin Ott didn't just have words of praise for Roland Kaiser at the anniversary show and took him to task about his suggestive song lyrics.
