Great concern for King Harald V of Norway.
The 87-year-old has been being treated in a hospital in Malaysia for days.
Crown Prince Haakon spoke to his father on the phone.
Finse – Horrifying news reached Oslo a few days ago from Malaysia, more than 9,000 kilometers away.
On the occasion of his 87th birthday, King Harald V of Norway was on a private holiday trip when he had to be admitted to the Sultanah Maliha Hospital in Langkawi due to an infection.
Crown Prince Haakon spoke on the phone with King Harald, who was ill: “It was nice to talk a little”
A purely precautionary measure or a worrying step?
“The king has had infections several times in the past and was then immediately taken to the national hospital and treated with antibiotics,” explains royal expert Trond Norén Isaksen to
VG
.
“He has gotten older and you have to be careful.” How long King Harald will have to stay in the Malaysian hospital is still unclear.
Queen Sonja (86) does not leave his side, as head of communications Guri Varpe confirms.

Until his return to Norway, King Harald's son Haakon (50) will take over the duties of the monarch.
Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit (50) are currently taking part in a Red Cross course in rescue management in Finse, Norway.
In this context, Haakon also commented
on King Harald's health to
NRK .
He spoke to his father on the phone.
I spoke to my mother and father this morning.
It seemed like the form was a little better.
The king was in a good mood, so it was nice.
It was nice to talk a little, of course we stayed in touch these days.

King Harald has not yet returned to Norway - his personal doctor is rushing to Malaysia
Why King Harald V, who was only on sick leave at the beginning of February due to a respiratory infection, would undertake such a long journey at his age remains his secret, but the distance also worries Crown Prince Haakon.
“It's a bit far from home.
But he's better now.
And his doctor is here,” Haakon tries to reassure.
This is Harald's personal doctor Bjørn Bendz, as
VG
reports.

The doctor got an initial picture of King Harald's state of health, "and fortunately the feedback is similar to the impression we got this morning," said Crown Prince Haakon at the press conference in Finse.
What King Harald needs now is a few days in the hospital to “get some rest and recovery.”
It is not yet clear when King Harald, who will not hand over the scepter to Haakon on the occasion of his 87th birthday, will be able to travel home to Oslo.
“We haven’t decided on that yet.
“We have to tackle one thing at a time,” says Crown Prince Haakon.
“Now the personal physician has arrived at the hospital and has been given the opportunity to meet the king and get his own opinion on the situation.” The next appointment scheduled for Harald V, according to the palace calendar, is a cabinet meeting on 8th of March.
