The MGEN mutual is taking a new step in lobbying in favor of active assistance in dying.
Mobilized for months to change the law on the end of life, the organization sent a letter to deputies at the end of January to convince them of the need for
“an evolution of the law which allows a free and chosen end of life”
.
Euthanasia or assisted suicide?
The mail does not decide.
But, to justify its approach, the mutual says it speaks on behalf of its members and highlights the particular case of a patient.
“Our mobilization responds to the needs of our members, including Aurélie, who personally suffers from a serious and incurable illness.
Aurélie wants to see the law evolve, MGEN relays her experience and her thoughts
,” writes Mylène Bonnel, deputy vice-president of the group.
