Starting with type 2 diabetes, which has undergone a real revolution.
Until recently, treatment aimed almost exclusively at lowering blood sugar, that is to say the level of glucose in the blood.
But in recent years, the development of two new classes of drugs – GLP-1 analogues and glifozins – has changed this approach.
And today, treatment recommendations are no longer focused only on controlling blood sugar levels, but also on protecting the organs that can be damaged by diabetes: the arteries, the heart, the kidneys, the liver.
When these target organs are already affected, or if the risk of seeing them affected is high, it has become imperative to consider the prescription of a GLP-1 analogue or a glifozin.
