The team regrets the farewell as much as many guests: Sylt is losing a gastronomic institution, the last day was on February 24th.

Tinnum – The bakery chain “Niebüller Backstube” operates a dozen branches in the north.

Until now there was still another location in Tinnum on Sylt.

But that's over now: on Saturday, February 24th, the lights went out there.

The operators said goodbye to customers on Facebook.

“We would like to thank you for your years of loyalty and support on Sylt.

Your visits, your smiles and your encouragement have always brightened our day and motivated us to do our best every day.”

One less gastro option on Sylt.

The fact that many people appreciated this can be seen in the said official post.

“This is really so sad” and “Sylt is losing a popular destination,” it says.

What's the matter?

This is not clear from the farewell posting.

However, the team has had to keep the branch closed several times in the past because the rail connection from the mainland to Sylt thwarted their plans, for example due to strikes.

The closure of the “Niebüller Backstube” branch is also discussed in a large Facebook group on the island with 144,000 members.

A member said goodbye to the bakery branch and posted a photo: “The last day of the Niebüller bakery.

A SHAME,” he wrote.

A Sylt visitor posted this photo on Facebook as a farewell.

There, too, there is speculation about the railway problems as a possible reason, and there too there are numerous words of regret.

"A pity.

"It was often our first visit to the island when we arrived early," "It's a shame, we'll miss it, just spontaneously for a coffee, chatting with friends."

In general, the term “shame” is piled up under the posting.

The bakery team sees it that way too.

At the end there were more touching words: “Although we say goodbye to our branch, the memory of the beautiful moments and the wonderful encounters remains.

We are grateful for the time we were able to spend with you and hope that our paths will cross elsewhere in the future.

We'll see each other in our branches on the mainland in the future." Because the customers were causing too much stress, another gastro veteran on Sylt also decided to take a drastic step.
