He distanced himself from his education very early on, but it left a lasting mark on him: the texts of the Bible haunted him.
He specifies that the story we are about to read is not an artificially constructed fiction to persuade the reader that everything goes wrong and ends well, but that it is his memories through which he seeks to shed light on events, the light of truth.
He began writing them the day he received a curious letter in his mailbox that took him back to an ancient past that he would have preferred not to think about anymore.
