Faced with the scandal unleashed by Clarín's investigation into the insurance that ANSeS contracted with intermediaries who collected juicy commissions during his government, Alberto Fernández broke his silence this Wednesday, after the case went to judicial complaint with his role in the spotlight.
The former president tried to distance himself from the case by maintaining that he "never" asked for the hiring of intermediaries who are close to him, such as Héctor Martínez Sosa - with whom Fernández had debts that were reflected in his sworn statements - but he was not so blunt when referring to to his secretary María Cantero, wife of the aforementioned broker.
“I doubt she would do such a thing;
If she did it, I don't endorse it;
No one is going to tell you that I asked for someone;
I doubt it, but I can't guarantee that she hasn't done something like that;
If she was like that, she overstepped her bounds,” said the former president about his historical assistant and wife of his creditor Martínez Sosa.
