In the future, it will not be cars, but containers that will fill the property at Hans-Urmiller-Ring 49 in Wolfratshausen.

An application was made to build a container settlement in the Wolfratshausen industrial area.

The building committee will discuss the approval on Wednesday.

Wolfratshausen – The first details about the construction of new accommodation for refugees in the Wolfratshausen industrial area were already leaked to the public in October last year (we reported).

The exact location and the potential builder remained secret.

The template for the public meeting of the city council's building committee next Wednesday (6 p.m., town hall) now provides information about the address where over 140 asylum seekers in containers could find shelter.

The meeting of the expert committee has almost 20 agenda items.

Point nine: the application for a “building permit to build a new residential complex to accommodate asylum seekers” at Hans-Urmiller-Ring 49. The company Moar UG & Co. KG from Bad Wiessee had already offered the area as a location for a collective accommodation for asylum seekers in 2014 .

The request was passed through the building committee without a hitch.

“A commercial area is – as the name suggests – a commercial area,” emphasized the current deputy mayor Günther Eibl (CSU) at the time.

Residential development is out of the question.

SPD city councilor Gerlinde Berchtold took the same line – and Dr.

Hans Schmidt (Greens) stated categorically: “An asylum seekers’ home in an industrial area?

No!” The committee unanimously rejected the building application, but a short time later had to be informed by the district office: the decision was illegal.

However, the accommodation was still not built.

The meeting template does not reveal anything about the identity of the current applicant.

The district office, which has been looking for suitable land for refugee accommodation for many months, is not behind it.

The authority's press spokeswoman, Marlis Peischer, did not reveal more when asked.

“We don’t want to pre-empt” Wednesday’s meeting.

If the committee approves the building application, according to Peischer, container accommodation for up to 144 people will be built on the property between the clubhouse of the “D'Loisachtaler” traditional costume club and the “Würth” branch.

The facility would be one of the largest in the district.

Only the Filigranhalle on Blumenstrasse in Geretsried and a building on Tölzer Flinthöhe can accommodate more people.

It would be the largest decentralized accommodation in Wolfratshausen.

“A security service is planned,” Peischer told our newspaper.

Everything else will become apparent in the public treatment of the building application.

The district office expects the asylum accommodation to be completed within seven to ten months.
