In the Starnberg district, more and more DFI displays are being set up for local public transport passengers.
Gauting -
The stop at the S-Bahn station in Gauting has currently been equipped with seven new displays and is the first stop in the district to be converted to the new MVV design.
“In Gauting, as the hub of central bus connections in the district, the quality of public transport use will be further improved,” explains District Administrator Stefan Frey.
With dynamic passenger information (DFI), planned and real-time data is transferred directly to a screen at the stop.
With the help of digital passenger displays, passengers at particularly busy bus stops in the district receive valuable information about departure times as well as possible delays and disruptions in public transport.
The digital displays are particularly helpful for passengers without smartphones. DFI displays also improve accessibility because the displays display both visual and acoustic information.
“Mobility is participation”
Mayor Dr.
Brigitte Kössinger is convinced: “Mobility and social participation are the big issues of our time.
That's why the rapid expansion of digital passenger information systems in the district is so important in order to provide citizens with disabilities with visual and acoustic assistance when traveling on public transport.
I am very pleased that these new MVV information systems can be implemented so quickly in Gauting and that people waiting here at the train station and at other busy stops can now receive reliable information about their journey, regardless of their own devices.
This helps locals as well as travelers and is therefore an important step towards further anchoring MVV’s climate-friendly local transport in people’s everyday lives.”
All highly frequented stops should be equipped by 2025
The first DFI display in the Starnberg district was installed in autumn 2022 at the bus stop at Andechs Monastery and marked the starting signal for the district-wide establishment of DFI displays. Since then, a total of eight other bus stops in the Starnberg district have been equipped with 18 digital passenger displays, currently now also at Gauting's S-Bahn station.
The bus stop there was the first in the district to be converted to the new MVV design.
A further 31 bus stops are to be equipped this year.
The goal is to install DFI displays at highly frequented bus stops throughout the district by 2025.
