Nothing to see of winter: This is how the current weather can be described.

Will it stay that way now?

Meteorologist Guido-Peter Wolz from the DWD explains the situation.

Munich - The last time it was really wintry in Munich and most parts of Bavaria was in January - even if a snow interlude at Tegernsee recently gave hope for a winter comeback.

In most of the Free State, however, there has been no trace of snow or ice in the past few weeks; rather, the spring-like temperatures invited people to eat ice cream.

It felt more like April than February, the German Weather Service (DWD) summarized in its review of the month.

Weather outlook for Munich and Bavaria: Still no snow in the lowlands

And while some are already feeling spring fever, winter lovers are asking themselves the anxious question: Will the cold and snow perhaps return again?

But unfortunately DWD weather expert Guido-Peter Wolz doesn't have the answer he wants, at least for the next seven to ten days.

“Winter isn’t really in sight,” he predicts.

So if you long for the white splendor, you won't get your money's worth in the lowlands, but will have to go high up.

Because there will only be snow on Friday “from 1,400 meters upwards,” says Wolz: “But only in small quantities.”

At the weekend there will be foehn in Bavaria - which means even milder temperatures.

Wolz even expects temperatures between twelve and 17 degrees on Sunday.

It's also supposed to be very sunny - so Sunday lives up to its name.

“There is no sign of frost, even at night,” said the weather expert.

After a brief flow of cold air, a stable high pressure area could develop

At the beginning of next week the temperatures are expected to go down a bit again, although it will remain quite mild at 8 to 14 degrees.

It currently looks like the current will turn north-east towards the middle of the week - and thus cooler air will come to us from Scandinavia.

Then frost can be expected again, says Wolz, “especially in the eastern half of Bavaria”.

The snowfall line is also expected to drop a little again, to around 1000 meters.

A touch of winter could spread in the mountainous regions of Bavaria, at least for a short time, but the lowlands will continue to get nothing in terms of snow.

After this “drop of cold air”, as weather expert Wolz says, the weekend of 9/10.

A stable high pressure area will set in again in March - but that is not yet completely certain, as the meteorologist emphasizes.
