How do I transform an anonymous settlement with many different nationalities into a livable community?

Erding answered this question for Klettham-Nord four years ago with the social cohesion urban development funding program.

Thanks to the city and the state, the first big steps have been taken; it is time for the citizens there to stand on their own two feet.

She is ready.

And: The face of the district is set to change this year.

Erding – In November 2020, Stefanie Auer from the Planwerk office took on her role as district manager.

On Tuesday she took stock of 2023 in the city council. There was a gardener's day in the "Eden for Everyone" with its raised beds.

Auer reported on a youth action day and a reading in the parish hall.

“Urban Development Funding Day” was celebrated in May.

The intercultural district festival followed in July.

The ADFC invited people to a cycling campaign, celebrated Halloween, made crafts for Advent and read to children.

There are regular game mornings.

Auer regretted that the farmers' market was not able to establish itself next to the Protestant Church of the Redeemer, "but we are happy to have a persistent vegetable seller who has his regular audience there and has thus become an important meeting place for many."

The district manager also reported on citizen surveys, working group meetings, a specialist excursion to a district management in Giesing and the presentation of her own project as part of the International Building Exhibition.

When asked by Thomas Schmidbauer (EDJ), Auer said that the number of participants ranged from 25 to several hundred.

“The outdoor festivals in particular are very popular.” Mayor Max Gotz (CSU) couldn’t help but remark that some city councilors could also be seen at such a festival.

Auer's report showed: A rethink has already taken place among the population of Klettham-Nord, but the district has not yet changed its - often not exactly inviting - face.

In her outlook, Auer announced that “this year we will be moving from the container to the new office opposite the church.”

Also this year, the city and neighborhood management want to push ahead with the establishment of a district association that will then take over the work.

He should be called “Friends of Klettham”.

A few active members of the neighborhood advisory board are already standing at gunpoint.

“It’s great how quickly things have developed,” said Auer.

2. Mayor Petra Bauernfeind (FW) said that the association is important because it can hold events.

Christian Famira-Parcsetich from urban development in the town hall explained that the project itself is designed to last four years and is scheduled to end in the summer of 2024.

Since the early days were still severely affected by Corona, they wanted to extend the funding by two years.

The district management will therefore still be involved in the redesign of Friedrichstrasse/Karlstrasse.

Cars should no longer have priority here.

The urban development competition has already been decided; the winning design envisages a large square with benches and trees as a meeting area.

Gotz was happy: “Something has already grown in Klettham-Nord.” He strongly advised that the experiences gained here be taken into account when converting the air base.

There, too, there is a need for places to meet, especially against the background of an aging society.
