He was literally caught red-handed.

On Wednesday, a 23-year-old wanted by the police was caught in the act of snatching.

Shortly before 2 p.m., an 80-year-old lady was attacked and her handbag stolen in the middle of the street, Zola district, in Nantes.

The attack took place under the eyes of the anti-crime squad, allowing them to pursue and arrest the suspect a few hundred meters away.

The victim was able to recover his personal belongings.

On the other hand, this

Since at least the beginning of January, it has been rampant in the southern sector of Nantes, in Rezé and Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire.

It targeted ladies of varying degrees of age, from around 60 to 85 years old.

“He was always described in the same way by these women

,” says the person close to the investigation.

The alleged culprit violently grabbed his victims' handbags and sometimes dropped them.

Most of the time, he then used their bank card to pay contactlessly in nearby bars or shopping centers.

As a result of receiving relatively similar complaints, investigators from the personal assault brigade and the personal violence group undertook a lot of technical work.

The latter set up all-out research to cross-check their information, using video surveillance.

Thanks to this hard work, they ended up identifying the criminal before the BAC recognized him and put an end to his crimes.

The investigation is continuing.

If other women have been victims of such an attack, they are invited to report to the police.
