The team at Schloss Hohenkammer around managing director Martin Kirsch can look forward to receiving certification.

It is the best “Certified Green Hotel” in all of Bavaria.

Hohenkammer

– Hohenkammer Castle with its hotel, restaurants and conference center has been a certified Certified Green Hotel since May 2018.

But now the team around managing director Martin Kirsch has achieved a special position: it has the highest number of points among all certified green hotels in Bavaria.

Certified is an independent testing institute for the hotel industry.

Similar to the way Stiftung Warentest tests products, certified hotels and locations are evaluated and certified on site by travel and event managers.

In the recent audit, Hohenkammer Castle was named the best Certified Green Hotel 2023/2024 in Bavaria based on the number of points achieved.

Sustainability is very important

But what makes the hotel so “green”?

Henrike Christ from Schloss-Marketing says: “We have our own Naturland business and produce most of the food we use in our restaurants ourselves.

We pay attention to organic quality when it comes to the food we buy.

We have a biogas and a wood chip plant and thus cover 98 percent of the castle's heating needs.

We also use our own wood from our 500 hectare mixed forest.” We also pay attention to sustainability in other ways, for example when it comes to cleaning products, recycled paper and Recup tableware.

There is a pure forest feeling in the new creative space “Giebinger Forst” at the conference center, for which wood from our own forest was used.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Till Runte, Certified Managing Director, found many positive words for Hohenkammer Castle: “The entire ensemble of the property only deserves one expression: impressive!

Get out of the rut, open your mind to new things, get creative, strengthen team spirit - all of this can be done to perfection at Hohenkammer Castle.” The team only launched two new creative spaces some time ago.

“Different concepts were developed and implemented in project teams, and the results are stunning,” enthuses Runte.

The “Giebinger Forst”, for example, was created from two former rooms and offers a “pure forest feeling”: birch logs, pinboards made of wooden disks, a thought tree and green seating balls allow the thoughts to flow.

The “Tower of Ideas” is completely different, in which up to eight people can speak at one table, but then find creative zones separated one step in the former anteroom with strong colors where individual sub-topics can be worked on.

That's why the castle not only achieved a high award in terms of "Green Hotel", but also, according to Runte, the highest rating of 'Excellent' as a "Certified Conference Hotel".

Team is proud, but wants to achieve even more

Schloss Hohenkammer's managing director Martin Kirsch is of course pleased with this assessment and praise: “We strive to get better and better in all areas.

In addition to service and equipment, these are primarily the topics of sustainability, ecology and creativity.

Being recognized as the best Certified Green Hotel in Bavaria is of course something special and makes us proud.” Henrike Christ, who is responsible for certifications in the company, says: “Maybe we will one day become the best Certified Green Hotel in Germany.”
