In the video: the confrontation between MK Ofer Kasif and MGB fighters/documentation on social networks according to Article 27 A of the Copyright Law
Legal Adviser to the Government, Gali Beharev Miara, decided today (Thursday) to submit an indictment to the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court against MK Ofer Kasif for assaulting a police officer under aggravated circumstances, at a demonstration near the village of Masafar Yatta. Kassif's investigation is being published here for the first time. In his investigation, Kasif claims that he was the one who was attacked, and that his hitting the policeman was an act of self-defense. Kasif claimed that the course of the investigation was tainted by political motives.
Kasif was interrogated with a warning in August 2022 in Lahab 433. He was asked about the incident in which he was seen in the video hitting a policeman , who prevented him from continuing to demonstrate, after the army declared the place a closed military area. To this Kasif replied: "This is not true.
I moved forward with the vehicle, and the policeman again, against the law, blocked me and hit me hard on the hood.
I got out of the car.
The same policeman pushed his hand in my face, which according to the law is assault.
Touching can be considered assault.
As soon as he pushed his hand into my face, and also shouts you will not stick to me, he hits me in the face.
So I come out and say you punched me."

Police investigator Sergeant Major Yael Tanzi questioned MK Kasif and asked: "Did the policeman intend to hit you?"
Kasif replied: "I don't know what was on his mind, but my feeling was yes."
The researcher continued: "How did you react?".
Kasif replied: "I deflected his hand and according to the photo I hit his head while pushing my hand away, neither intentionally nor willingly, certainly and certainly not as an attack. It was clearly self-defense."
At the end of the investigation, Kasif was shown videos from the incident in which he was allegedly seen hitting the police officer.
To this he replied: "I completely disbelieve this, and see it as a case being sewn up for purely political reasons, and the result of coordinated lies between the police officers present at the scene."

When Kasif was asked if he wanted to apologize to the policeman, he replied: "He created the situation but is still sorry that I hit the policeman's head."
Kasif repeated and said: "The policeman pushed his hand into my face. I pushed his hand away and in the process I hit the policeman's head unintentionally, certainly not with the intention of assault."
The response of lawyer Daniel Haklai, who represents Knesset member Kasif: "As part of the police investigation, Knesset member Dr. Kasif as well as several witnesses on his behalf - including his parliamentary assistant and protesters who were at the scene - presented video footage showing that one of the officers at the scene threatened Kasif, and that the police officer who complained against Kasif , he was the one who touched him first by pushing his finger in Casif's face.
It is important to note that the threatening officer was not investigated under caution, and certainly not prosecuted.
This point is disturbing to us.
The complaining police officer, who, according to Kasif, attacked him in the face before responding Kasif, was not investigated as a suspect either.
We respect every decision of the Legal Adviser to the Government, but believe that the filing of the indictment is a serious error.
In the current public atmosphere, it is very easy to roll on the sword, and present him as the enemy of the nation.
We will plead guilty in court, and we will present our arguments through testimonies and videos from the scene of the incident."
