Happy motherhood in the city council: For Verena Comperl (l.) with Vinz (five months) and Janine Altheimer with Kilian (seven months) it is normal to bring their offspring to the meetings.

Soon there could even be three babies.

The fact that in a parliament there is sometimes meaningless babbling and even sudden shouting is part of a living democracy.

Unusual tones have now entered the Erdinger city council - but they are not being rejected by representatives of the people.

No, you can say that the committee that meets once a month in the venerable Grafenstock is a kindergarten - without offending any of the 40 councilors.

Erding - Three Erding city councilors recently became mothers - Janine Altheimer from the CSU with her seven-month-old Kilian and Verena Comperl (Greens) with Vinz, who is two months younger.

And Stefanie Winkler (CSU) gave birth to a girl a few weeks ago.

Altheimer and Comperl are not afraid to bring young talent onto the board.

For her and for the plenary session, this is obviously the most normal thing in the world, which visibly touched Helga Stieglmeier (Greens).

She is a social officer and is therefore also responsible for equality.

Little Vinz is sitting right next to her.

And that prompted Stieglmeier, a mother herself, to say that it was a “fantastic thing,” also in the spirit of equality.

“City councilors do not have the opportunity to be represented in their office while on maternity leave.” That is why the babies on the committee are “equality in action” for them.

Young mothers shouldn't be unsettled when their offspring gets loud - or calls for their mother's breast.

Mayor Max Gotz (CSU) is also happy “when children move into the center of society”.

The plenary session acknowledged both statements with applause.
