A man barricades himself in a building at the legendary Nürburgring in the Eifel.
The police cordon off the area and negotiate with him until he gives up.
There are still many questions unanswered.
Nürburg - A man barricaded himself in a building at the Nürburgring in the Eifel on Thursday - and voluntarily surrendered a short time later.
The man had a blank gun with him, police said.
He was taken into custody.
So no one was injured.
At 8:45 a.m. the police were called to a threatening situation at the Nürburgring, said a spokesman.
The man barricaded himself in a building in the Nürburgring pit lane area and threatened a person.
“It could not be ruled out that the person was carrying a weapon or a weapon-like object,” reported the police spokesman.
“That’s why a relatively large police operation ultimately started.”
According to their spokesman, the police were in contact with the man and were negotiating with him.
The spokesman was initially unable to say how many people were in the building at the time of the crime.
The background to the incident is also still unclear.
It is now being examined which circumstances could possibly be fulfilled.
