The former Buenos Aires governor said that the space must “leave four years of internal discussions behind.” She did so after a meeting she had with the former president last week.

María Eugenia Vidal

confirmed this Wednesday that there is “a majority consensus” within the Pro for Mauricio Macri to be the new national president of the force he founded.

She confirmed this after a meeting she held last week with the former president, whose candidacy had been endorsed at the end of last month by the party's provincial leaders.

"The PRO has a month in March that is key because we are going to define the party authorities again, and there is

a majority consensus for Mauricio to be the president

of the national party," said Vidal.

The former Buenos Aires governor and current deputy demanded that the members of the PRO “

leave behind four years of internal discussions

.”

“People sent us a message in the last election that we have to know how to read it,” he highlighted in statements to the press in Mar del Plata, where he launched his Hacemos foundation, dedicated to literacy and education.

"We have to return to being that PRO who governed the city (of Buenos Aires), the province (of Buenos Aires), the Nation; who was able to demonstrate team, results, management and commitment to the people; that is what we have to return to be," he emphasized.

In the last period, the presidency of the PRO was in the hands of Patricia Bullrich.

But in April of last year, the current Minister of Security requested leave from that position to face the electoral campaign as a presidential candidate for Together for Change, elections in which she precisely faced Javier Milei in the first round.

After being left out of the runoff, where the libertarian won against Sergio Massa, Bullrich resumed leadership of the party.

Vidal will present a project linked to retirements.

Vidal also commented that he will present a project to improve retirement benefits.

"They are at their

lowest level in the last 20 years

and without a doubt we have to change the formula now," he argued.

"Inflation is still very high for everyone, but also the formula that was introduced in the previous government caused a loss of 35% of the pension, and if there is something that a retiree cannot do, it is wait," he remarked.

In that direction, he added: "We need Congress to deal with the project that changes the formula; we were very close with the omnibus law, but we are going to get back to it now starting next Friday when the sessions begin."

"I have a project done, but there are other blocks working in the same direction; the Civic Coalition, radicalism... I think that the first task we have to address is to change the formula," he expressed.

Regarding its foundation, Hacemos, reported that it originated “as a civil association that had its origins four years ago in Paraná (Entre Ríos) by a group of young people who wanted to convert their intentions of transforming reality into concrete actions. ".

In that sense, he explained that "in Argentina, 5 out of 10 third graders do not understand what they read, but understand what they read, they cannot solve a mathematical problem, they cannot understand the street on which they are standing."

In this framework, the foundation "will seek to federalize what is being done in Entre Ríos" and for this it already has teams in Misiones, Santa Cruz, Córdoba, Tucumán, Mendoza and Buenos Aires.

“In each place we have a territorial look at what each particular context needs, in constant dialogue with the people," Vidal concluded.
