Turning old into new: As of March 1st, the Schongau hospital site is now officially the new health center for the region.
Name: SOGESUND – Medical Center.
“The brand name is a commitment to the Schongau location and puts our medical standards in the foreground,” explains the deputy managing director of the Hospital GmbH, Claus Rauschmeier.
Schongau – The umbrella brand SOGESUND symbolizes the realignment of the departments, infrastructure and offerings at the Schongau clinic location.
There are specialist practices and the MVZ medical care center, an outpatient surgery center, a rehabilitation facility for elderly patients, a day clinic for pain therapy, outpatient physiotherapy, a ward for internal medicine patients, surgery and attending physicians as well as an emergency outpatient clinic is open on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The new logo is represented by two arrows that interlock to form a medical cross.
Both arrows are perfectly aligned and become one.
“This is intended to represent the cross-sector orientation of the new location: We operate outpatient and inpatient services in Schongau,” says Rauschmeier.
And adds: “The two arrows also represent the close connection between doctor and patient as well as the connection between the two Hospital GmbH locations.”
“The ship has started well and is now picking up speed.” Rauschmeier uses this comparison to describe the current moment.
“Despite all the changes: the Schongau Hospital lives on – in a new setting.”
The success story of patient care will be continued.
After the setbacks in the past, “things are now looking very good”.
The numbers in February are very satisfactory.
New, bright rooms were created on two floors with local craftsmen for the health center with an MVZ, outpatient operating room, medical center and an inpatient department with 40 interdisciplinary beds and 30 beds for geriatric medicine.
The nursing staff is also well positioned.
“Thanks to a spring pool, we have enough skilled workers to be able to occupy all beds in inpatient care,” says Rauschmeier, explaining the stabilizing staffing levels.
A completely new care concept was introduced for this purpose, which is currently only implemented in nursing homes.
“As part of the realignment, we changed our care concept from area care to reference care,” says nursing service manager Sandra Buchner.
While previously all nursing staff were responsible for all patients, care is now personalized and individualized.
Buchner: “Three to four nurses each look after a group of patients.
This ensures all-round care and the patient always has the same contact person – from admission to discharge.”
Consultations in the areas of surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, anesthesia and occupational medicine have been taking place at the Schongau Medical Center since January.
There's a new face here: Dr.
Christian Schamberg-Bahadori will be joining the practice team from March 1st.
With the addition of a specialist in orthopedics and trauma surgery as well as chiropractic, the surgical-orthopedic focus of the MVZ is expanded to include several important components.
From April, Dr.'s oncology practice will also be moving.

According to the deputy managing director, we are also doing well in terms of further training for doctors.
In addition, there is intensive communication with the resident doctors and the BRK to ensure optimal emergency care during the day.
“Even if we are no longer available around the clock, we offer good services and good specialists,” affirms the deputy managing director.

Shortly before the official start date, numerous district councilors and representatives of the district office got an idea of the current developments.
At the invitation of the Hospital GmbH, they visited important departments of the medical center, including the outpatient surgery center, the medical center and the internal medicine and surgery ward.
“We have implemented all possible and necessary measures to be able to complete the restructuring by March 1st,” emphasized Hospital GmbH Managing Director Thomas Lippmann and his deputy Claus Rauschmeier.
Only the transformation funds provided by the district council were invested.
“Due to the budget situation in the district, there cannot be any further major investments for both locations before 2027/28,” clarified the chairwoman of the supervisory board and district administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß after the supervisory board meeting that took place on the same day.
