Important changes are on the agenda from March 1, 2024.
Some of the reforms are likely to cause dissatisfaction, particularly among pensioners.

Salary increase from March 2024: Public sector workers earn more
After several rounds of negotiations in the public service failed, an agreement was finally reached in April 2023.
From March 1, 2024, the pay groups in the public sector are to be adjusted.
Trade unions and employers agreed on a collective bargaining agreement from which 2.5 million public sector employees and thus also colleagues in local social and educational services will benefit.

The core elements are an inflation compensation payment and a salary increase: From March 2024, the table values will be increased by a base amount of 200 euros plus a further 5.5 percent.
If this increase is less than 340 euros, the table value will be increased by 340 euros instead.
The term is 24 months.
Changes for pensioners from March 2024 to health insurance contributions
From January 1, 2024, the individual additional contribution to statutory health insurance has been increased, resulting in higher contributions for those insured.
However, compulsorily insured pensioners will not feel the changes until two months later, as the increase in health insurance contributions only takes effect with the pension payment for the month of March.
Accordingly, less pension is paid out.
Depending on the health insurance company, the additional contributions vary.
Those affected will be informed about the changes to the health insurance contributions that are deducted from their pension via their bank statement.
According to the comparison portal Verifox, the increase in health insurance contributions for pensioners can be high over the course of a year.
Some seniors expect up to 150 euros in additional costs.
The increase would be less severe for people who receive the so-called corner pension.

Anyone who has a degree will be able to pursue any qualified job in the future.
Anyone who has at least two years of professional experience and a professional qualification recognized by the state in their country of origin can immigrate as a worker.
