In the month of January 2024 alone, the Postal Police detected and treated 1,008 cases of cyber security, including ransomware attacks, DDoS, malware spread and other hacking techniques, such as Advanced Persistent Threat (Apt), databreach and infostealer.
The most significant attacks, equal to 66, were launched against the IT systems of critical infrastructures, operators of essential services and local public administrations.
These are the data from the Postal Police which will be analyzed and explored in depth by its director Ivano Gabrielli during CyberSec2024, the international conference to be held in Rome on 6 and 7 March.
The title of this third edition is "Cybersecurity in the era of AI".
With an average of more than two per day, cyber attacks have affected crucial sectors of the Public Administration and the private sector, producing significant repercussions, such as the limitation or suspension of services, including those of public interest.
The operators of the National Cyber Crime Center for the Protection of Critical Infrastructures (Cnaipic) and the Cyber Security Operational Units operating at a local level have played a fundamental role in the management of related emergencies, actively collaborating with the ICT managers of the affected entities.
"The conference with over 70 speakers", explains Luigi Garofalo, the director of the Cybersecurity Italia newspaper - organizer of CyberSec -, "will offer, thanks to the contribution of national and international cyber security experts, a rich in-depth analysis on the technological and regulatory evolutions of cybersecurity and a broad focus on the frontiers of artificial intelligence for cybersecurity".
The Conference will be attended by, among others, Minister Urso, Deputy Minister Cirielli, Undersecretaries Butti and Perego of Cremnago, the general director of ACN Frattasi, the deputy director of Intelligence Guidi, the United States ambassador for cyberspace and digital policy Fick, the director general of the Cybersecurity Agency of Spain Barrio Juárez and the CEO of CDP Venture Capital Scornajenchi.
The Conference will take place in person, with a selected audience invited by the organization and will also be broadcast in live streaming.
