Ensures that Schliersee stays hydrated: water master Manfred Eckmair in the elevated tank at Rißbauer.
It will now be equipped with a second chamber in order to be able to tackle the urgently needed renovation.

With only one chamber, the Schliersee elevated drinking water tank cannot be taken off the grid for more than a few weeks.
Now the community is gearing up.
Schliersee
– Water master Manfred Eckmair and his people have to work under high pressure when maintenance on the Schliersee elevated tank is due again.
This not only means the power of the water jet with which you clean the chamber, but also the time factor.
Because while they are busy here with disinfection and sampling as well as any repairs, the elevated tank in Neuhaus has to supply the approximately 1,500 connections in Schliersee.
“But this lasts a maximum of two to three weeks,” explains Eckmair.
And only if drinking water consumption is kept within limits.
Just like right now, when things are a little quieter in terms of tourism in town.
Preparation for six-month renovation
In order to take some of this pressure out of the boiler and to be able to tackle the long-planned renovation, which will take a good six months, the municipality is now planning to equip the Schliersee elevated tank with a second chamber.
The water master explains that this is how it was actually customary and was already planned in the early days of the building on the Rißbauer, which was completed in 1967.
The building committee has now unanimously approved the corresponding building application.

The existing chamber holds 1,500 cubic meters, the second one will be significantly smaller at 680 cubic meters.
“We’re doing well with that, fire-fighting water included,” assures Eckmair.
The dimensions of the round container, which is hydraulically connected to the existing counterpart via the so-called pipe cellar, are twelve meters in diameter and six meters high.
Gray concrete slabs for an inconspicuous look
As with the existing building, the new building will be integrated as well as possible into the natural slope through embankments and planting, explained Mayor Franz Schnitzenbaumer (CSU) at the building committee meeting.
Instead of wooden cladding, gray concrete panels were chosen as the facade.
“That’s the least noticeable thing,” said Schnitzenbaumer.
Ultimately, it is a functional building that cannot be completely hidden.
In order to access the construction site, you first have to clear out a little bit of wood.
The neighboring farmer would kindly make part of his area available as a building materials storage facility.
“Fortunately, we have a good understanding,” emphasized the town hall boss.

According to Eckmair, the elevated tank in Neuhaus has a capacity of 1,500 cubic meters, which is divided into two equally sized chambers.
The border to the Schliersee supply area runs at the level of Unterleiten.
Normally the two circuits run separately, but they only had to be temporarily connected to each other during maintenance on the Schliersee elevated tank.
Thanks to the new second chamber, this will no longer be necessary, explains Eckmair.
As soon as the new building is finished, the long-delayed renovation of the existing building will begin.
But then without the constant pressure on Schliersee's neck that could be left high and dry if there were delays.
