“Living on a cruise ship is a very particular lifestyle that cannot be compared to anything on land.
Every day is unique and is lived to the fullest
,” comments Luciana Bertelotti in an interview with

as a photography supervisor
on the largest ship in the world
, which set sail on
January 27, 2024

the United States
to the
Caribbean islands
.
The beginning of an adventure
The protagonist of this story was born in the municipality of Concepción del Uruguay, in the
Province of Entre Ríos
.
Three years later, she moved with her family to the Villa Devoto neighborhood, in the
Autonomous City of Buenos Aires
.
There,
she discovered her passion for traveling
.
After finishing his secondary studies,
he began his Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design
and got to work to generate income in parallel.
For this reason, in
2015
, she started searching for jobs on Google and
found her ideal job: cruise ship photographer
.
However, Luciana
was unaware of life on the sea.
Although,
that didn't stop her.
In the blink of an eye, she sent her application to the company
“Royal Caribbean Cruises”
and waited eagerly, according to her.

To apply for the job position, the boat company requested the following requirements:
be over 21 years old, have knowledge of the English language and have experience in photography with a single-lens digital reflex camera, better known as a "DSLR" camera
.
When he met all of them,
he had a virtual interview to evaluate his level of English
and then, an in-person meeting, where he had to carry out several group activities with other applicants.
Once she finished it,
they confirmed that she was selected
.
With great joy, the young woman accepted a job that would allow her to travel the world, something she would never have imagined, according to her words.
Thus,
in January 2016,
she embarked on her first cruise, with which
she visited Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, Spain, Italy, France, Greece and Turkey
.

“I usually work on a contract basis, for six months.
During that time,
I miss sharing quality time with my family
, especially when there are important events.
Although, it is not something that I suffer daily since
life on board keeps me very busy
,” the young woman mentions.
In addition,
you have the possibility of returning to your country once or twice a year
, for a couple of months.
“When working on a cruise ship,
there are no days off
.
And every moment is taken advantage of, like the days in port where the crew can get off the ship and tour the cities we arrive at,” adds Luciana.

explored more than 30 countries

where she made her most precious memories

“Many times I feel that incredible things happen to me,
I live unique experiences and visit dream places
.
However, to have a good time you have to know how to enjoy work and be able to endure many months on board with positivity,” explains the photographer.

As the years went by, he continued working on different cruises and
got a promotion.
Therefore, she became
photography supervisor of the largest and most modern cruise ship in the world

One of the greatest memories of my life

she was able to save an amount of money that she never would have imagined, according to her

However, salaries vary depending on the job position and each person's workload.
“I usually work between eight and ten hours a day, although, when we arrive at a new destination,
I work approximately six hours
,” explains Luciana.

“At the end of the day, the experience differs in the mentality with which one approaches it.
In my case,
it is a unique experience, for which it is worth being away from my home
,” the Argentine expresses with emotion.

“Working with friends is a beautiful thing.
The most common thing is to share little time with them, since meeting again on the same ship is a matter of luck.
We usually rotate vessels when signing a new contract
