French international Olivier Giroud doesn't beat around the bush: “Don't miss the opportunity to treat people suffering from brain tumors,” he proclaims.

Be generous!

» Obviously touched by the call for generosity from the neurosurgery department of the Caen University Hospital, he himself offered a French team jersey to be sold at auction.

“Each year, around twenty new patients arrive in the department with brain tumors, most often malignant, and too deep to be operated on... But new technologies could now allow us to intervene on at least half of them. 'between them,' explains Professor Evelyne Emery, head of the neurosurgery department at Caen University Hospital (Calvados).

However, the CHU's limited finances do not currently make it possible to finance such equipment, the cost of which is around 100,000 euros.

“It could change everything for some patients”

She therefore reiterates the call for donations (

intended to equip her department with a device that could change everything for some of these patients: a guidance system allowing a laser fiber to be introduced with great precision to the tumor and to treat it as best as possible using thermal waves.

“It turns out that we treated the relative of a manager of the Stade Malherbe in Caen.

The club's entourage mobilized to bring us donations.

One thing led to another, international Olivier Giroud offered one of his jerseys whose auction brought in money.

And it had a snowball effect.

Manufacturers have since given us their support.

And today we are at more than 20,000 euros.

But we really hope for other contributions to be able to benefit our patients from this very promising technology,” continues Professor Emery.
