With a profit of 1.3 billion euros in 2023, the SNCF is in the green for the third consecutive year, driven by the French enthusiasm for the train.
These good results and attendance records (124 million passengers transported in France on high-speed lines alone) are accompanied by discontent over repeated strikes during the holidays or full TGVs in the blink of an eye. after the opening of sales.
Discontent which will not calm down with the announcement that a large part of travelers will pay even more for their tickets in 2024, as recalled by the CEO of the railway group, Jean-Pierre Farandou, this Wednesday February 28 during the presentation of financial results.
These profits will be used in particular to contain the increase in the cost of energy, the 8% increase in railway tolls (fees for the use and maintenance of the tracks) and the purchase of new trains, including the future TGV M. So many investments that passengers will have to finance.
Often criticized for their excessive price, train tickets for some will undergo a further increase, while others will be frozen by a price shield.
TGV inOui, Ouigo, Intercités... An update on what you will pay this year depending on the type of train and the trips planned.

This is less than in 2023 when the tariff shield contained the increase to 5%.

one in two TGV inOui tickets was sold for less than €45”
in 2023 and emphasizes that these lines are not subsidized.

Ouigo
Good news for regulars of blue and pink trains.

The low-cost subsidiary offers tickets from €16 for everyone as well as a single price of €5 or €8 for children up to and including 11 years old, whatever the dates and destinations, allowing families to travel Low price.
According to the company, one in two Ouigo tickets was offered for less than €25 in 2023.
Intercity
Travelers on the Paris - Clermont Ferrand lines or night trains between Paris, Nice and Briançon will not experience price increases this year either.

TER
No generalized increase has been announced for TER, whose pricing policy is set by the regions.
Some of them have already announced changes, such as Hauts-de-France where the increase is 4.5% for occasional travelers, 3.6% for subscribers and 1% for students.
Opting for a regional discount card or passes for unlimited journeys can be a solution for traveling at lower costs and at the last minute.
