This Thursday, the Government officially appointed
Carlos Pirovano as the new president of the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA
).
His appointment had been under consideration for a few days, but was finally confirmed with the publication of the corresponding regulations in the
Official Gazette
.
The institution had been headless since December 10, the day of the inauguration of
Javier Milei
, who signed decree 202/2024 as President of the Nation, as did the Minister of Human Capital, Sandra Pettovello.
Pirovano will be
under the orbit of the National Secretariat of Culture
managed by Leonardo Cifelli, with whom he met a week ago, according to sources consulted by Clarín.
Outside the world of cinema, the leader of Apertura Republicana was currently in charge of the Productivity and Competitiveness Observatory of the Caece University, according to his Linkedin page.
He is
an economist, university professor
specialized in microeconomics, finance and strategic planning and was vice president of Banco BICE (Bank of Investment and Foreign Trade).
He was also Undersecretary of Investments during Mauricio Macri's two terms as head of government of the City of Buenos Aires.
Until this appointment, Jorge Keczeli was the "interim person in charge". According to decree 166/2024, published in the Official Gazette on Wednesday, February 21, he would work "ad honorem, since he is secretary of Legal and Administrative Coordination of the Ministry of Capital Human driving Pettovello.
That document had made it clear that the interim official would remain in the INCAA until the appointment of the president of the organization.
The institution immediately required the signature of an official to make current payments and transfer funds already granted to film producers, suppliers, and festivals.
