The connecting path from the Weyarner multi-purpose hall to Stürzlham will no longer be accessible to cars in the future.

The local council decided this.

Weyarn - The connecting road from the Weyarner multi-purpose hall to Stürzlham will no longer be accessible to cars in the future - with the exception of residents, mopeds and agricultural traffic.

Numerous Stürzlham residents have requested such traffic calming.

The local council has now complied with this request.

The application for traffic calming was already on the local council agenda in November.

The council decided at the time that the road committee, traffic officer Horst Hablowetz and the administration should develop appropriate options in coordination with the specialist authorities at the district office and the police (we reported).

This has now happened, explained Mayor Leonhard Wöhr (CSU).

Citizens of Stürzlham did not support a similar request years ago

Years ago, a similar request was brought to the community by an individual.

However, the majority of Stürzlham citizens did not support this at the time.

However, the route was illuminated to ensure greater safety.

Now the situation is a little different.

A strong new argument was that the route will probably one day be used for the planned cycle path from Weyarn to Miesbach, the first section of which - from Thalham to Kleinpienzenau - is currently being built.

Traffic officer Hablowetz had advised against a time limit for traffic calming.

So this was no longer up for debate.

However, Wöhr put up for discussion at the meeting whether motorcycles of up to 45 km/h should be allowed on the connecting route or not.

Albert Zinsbacher (CSU) was for it.

If someone came from Pienzenau with such a vehicle, they would otherwise have to move 100 meters onto the state road, explained Zinsbacher.

“I find that too dangerous.” Peter Bauer (SPD) admitted that he had initially had concerns about allowing mopeds.

“But there are also many e-bikers or Pedelec riders who ride 45,” he said, “it wouldn’t make sense to shift them all onto the road.” Philipp Eikerling (Greens) said that we should still ensure that you don't drive so fast on this route.

Underpass difficult to see

Speed is not so much the problem, explained Anian Rutz (UWG), who is also a member of the road committee.

The committee's recommendation was primarily about the underpass.

This is difficult to see for road users coming from Weyarn and is particularly dangerous when encountering cars.

Because the new regulation must take the access to the “Am Windbichl” estate into account, the connecting path from the bend in Neukirchner Straße to the junction to the “Am Windbichl” estate is closed to vehicles, but free for residents.

Pedestrians, cyclists and agricultural traffic are permitted from the junction at the driving silo to the skate park.

The local councils want to allow mopeds for the entire route, but this still needs to be legally examined.

The decision was passed against two votes.
