The supervisory board of the International Film Festival is to address the controversial Berlinale gala in a special meeting.
According to dpa information, Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth (Greens), as chairwoman of the supervisory board of the federal cultural events in Berlin (KBB), which includes the Berlinale, the Berlin Festival with the Gropius Bau and the House of World Cultures (HKW), called the committee for the 11th
Berlin - March one.
The festival management is also expected to attend the meeting at which the controversial events during the gala will be discussed.
Mariette Rissenbeek and Carlo Chatrian are currently at the helm, with Tricia Tuttle taking over in April.
The Middle East conflict was discussed several times during the gala on Saturday.
Numerous jury members and award winners called for a ceasefire in the Gaza war verbally or with badges.
Statements also spoke of apartheid in connection with the situation in the territories occupied by Israel and of genocide with regard to the army's actions in Gaza.
Afterwards there was numerous criticism including accusations of hatred of Israel and anti-Semitism.
In the hall were, among others, Roth as well as Berlin's Governing Mayor Kai Wegner and Senator for Culture Joe Chialo (both CDU).
It was only much later that everyone criticized the statements.
Roth and Wegner had also announced that the events would be clarified.
The federal government is the sponsor of the Berlinale, and Berlin contributes to the financing.
