Jetzendorf – Tobias Endres wants to become the new mayor of Jetzendorf.

The independents have chosen him as the successor to Manfred Betzin (non-party), who left the office of community leader at the end of March for health reasons.

The 37-year-old has only been in local politics for a few months.

He came to the municipal parliament as a replacement for the second mayor Leonhard Sedlmeier, who also left for health reasons, and was then elected second mayor on February 6th, so that the municipality is not without a leader after Betzin's departure.

Endres is the father of three sons, grew up in Jetzendorf and is firmly rooted in the community in the upper Ilmtal.

He is a trained banker who completed a degree in economics and business administration.

He now has over 15 years of professional experience in financial management and controlling, predominantly with large Munich property developers and in the automotive and commercial vehicle industries.

Endres is currently a senior controller at a broadband provider.

In the local council he is a member of the building and environmental committee and is also an association councilor in the Upper Ilmtal Wastewater Association.

He has shown that he can handle money for several years as a cashier at TSV Jetzendorf.

He also runs the cash register at Germania-Schützen and is a cooperative representative at Volksbank-Raiffeisenbank Dachau.

“Volunteering for the benefit of the community is important even in difficult times,” emphasizes Endres.

When community life came to a standstill during the Corona lockdown, he quickly organized the Jetzendorf running challenge, in which over 300 participants brought life and momentum back to the community.

He would see his main tasks as mayor in expanding the school to include all-day care.

He would also like to push ahead with the planning for the construction or expansion of the daycare center and accelerate the search for possible space for a youth center.

He would like to use his good contacts with his current employer to expand fiber optic coverage.

“I will be having important discussions in the next few weeks regarding the advancement of the energy transition,” promises Endres, who is also interested in expanding the cycle paths around Jetzendorf.

He answered the Dachauer Nachrichten's question as to why he was running for the office of first mayor as follows: “Since I will be representing our first mayor from April 1st, I have been intensively familiarizing myself with all current issues in the community over the last few weeks.

I really enjoyed the diversity of this demanding job and developed the necessary passion for this position.

“I would like to work together with the local council to overcome the ongoing challenges in our community of 3,200 residents.”

Endres knows that he will have to deal with opposing candidates in the election on Sunday, June 9th (see box), but he thinks he has a good chance.

Three other candidates

There are already three other candidates for the mayor's office in Jetzendorf: Emily Rumpf has been a member of the local council for the Greens since November 2021.

She is 23 years old and therefore the youngest on the board.

The 42-year-old physiotherapist Bastian Hepperle runs a practice in Jetzendorf.

He is non-partisan.

AfD district councilor Alois Federl from the municipality of Schweitenkirchen has expressed interest, but could only be elected if the local council first determines that in the future there will no longer be a part-time mayor but a full-time mayor in Jetzendorf.
