The Puchheim-Bahnhof fire station has been completely renovated in recent years.

The building authority now explained this to the city council.

Fire department officer Günter Hoiß requested the report.

Puchheim – Too small, too old, too insecure.

This is how we can summarize what fire brigade officer Günter Hoiß (CSU) meticulously laid out on 23 pages in the city council four years ago: The Puchheim-Bahnhof fire station was not in the best condition.

Now he wanted to know what the city had done about it.

Roland Schützeneder, head of the technical construction department, reported that the city had been anything but inactive.

An expert was hired to inspect the building.

Result: safety risk on the fire station forecourt, dilapidated electronics, dilapidated sanitary facilities, too little space.

Various works

It was clear that in the 40-year-old building, the electrical infrastructure was “getting old” and the sanitary facilities were “past their peak,” explained Schützeneder.

In the past three years, some of it has been structurally repaired.

The replacement of the electronics cost 50,000 euros.

A further 86,000 euros were raised for the sanitary facilities, which were not only renovated but also separated by gender.

At the fire station forecourt, incoming and outgoing traffic was spatially separated from each other in order to reduce the risk of collision.

The park area and footpaths were also reorganized.

A fence was also built to secure the yard and the lighting was renewed.

In total, this work cost 94,000 euros.

Extension?

An extension of the house is not possible due to the cramped structural situation, explained Schützeneder.

Instead, the use of space was reorganized and processes optimized.

The workshop and breathing workshop were restructured and the equipment was also renewed, which cost an additional 120,000 euros.

To this end, various small and small measures were taken.

For example, painting work and converting to LED lamps.

According to Schützeneder, this cost a total of 76,000 euros.

The city invested a total of 430,000 euros in the fire station.

Actually, 60,000 euros were still available for the hall floor.

The only thing is that we couldn't find a suitable offer.

A possible expansion by adding more floors to the building using lightweight construction will be planned in the next few years, the building authority representative reports.

Small tip

In any case, fire brigade officer Günter Hoiß was satisfied with the progress, but couldn't resist saying something: “What I'm still missing is the unplanned supply of fresh air in December.

“It’s a shame that the city council wasn’t informed,” said Hoiß, referring to the damage caused by the extreme snow on the first weekend of December last year.

“It was an interesting night with THW and the fire department,” explained Roland Schützeneder.

The canopy at the back of the building gave way under the masses of snow and parts of the anchoring came loose, creating “a gaping joint of ten to 20 centimeters” on the rear wall.

The dismantling is currently being organized; because of the joint, the upper part of the wall also has to be dismantled and rebuilt.

The repair work should begin in six to eight weeks.
