Former Army colonel
Horacio Losito
, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for committing crimes against humanity in the
Margarita Belén massacre
, in Chaco, during the last military dictatorship, was the protagonist of a
controversial and questioned tribute
in a
Misiones
regiment .
Losito, who fought in the Malvinas alongside the father of Vice President
Victoria Villarruel
, was decorated on Tuesday in the
Monte 30 Infantry Regiment
, in Apóstoles, Misiones.
The former soldier, removed from the force after his conviction for his participation in the murder of political prisoners in Chaco in December 1976, was
honored for his performance in Malvinas
.
Losito arrived in a gray car at the regiment and was received by a military band.
The event continued with Losito ringing two bells and the soldiers of the regiment celebrating his presence.
The tribute was repudiated by different organizations.
HIJOS Capital was one of the first to consider that the tribute is
to vindicate state terrorism
.

In addition to the life sentence for the Margarita Belén massacre, Losito
has two 25-year sentences
for crimes against humanity in Corrientes, when he served in the former 9th Infantry Regiment.
He was arrested in 2004 and had been under house arrest since 2020, benefiting shortly after the pandemic began, but at the end of last year he received conditional release.
