The illegitimate authorities of Transnistria accuse the Moldovan government of
“genocide”
against the population of this 20 km wide territory, since the introduction on January 1, 2024 of customs duties on imports from this pro-Russian separatist region of Moldova , where 465,000 people officially live, including 220,000 Russians - unverifiable figures.
They asked Russia on Wednesday for
“protective measures”
in the face of alleged
“increased pressure”
from Chisinau, against a backdrop of tensions exacerbated by the conflict in neighboring Ukraine.
In reality, these measures aim in particular to stop the business of the local mafia, which fuels the interests of politicians close to Moscow and who are increasingly isolated.
Transnistria is wedged between Ukraine (which controls the airspace) to the east, and Moldova to the west, which is fast approaching the European Union.
Furthermore, possible land military aid from Russia via Odessa is unlikely…
