WhatsApp is not available on older smartphones for periodic updates relating to compatibility with the operating system.
The date of February 29th has spread online as a stop for the app for some models, but it is an option already in place for old phones, not linked to a specific date.
WhatsApp compatibility is guaranteed exclusively on devices that operate with the Android operating system 5.0 or later and on iPhones with iOS12 and later versions, explains the platform on the page dedicated to 'Information on supported devices'.
The list of older cell phones that no longer support WhatsApp includes various models from brands such as Samsung, LG, Huawei, Sony, Lenovo, ZTE, and even some iPhone models, such as the iPhone 6S, iPhone SE and iPhone 6S Plus. These are devices that mostly date back seven to 10 years ago.
