Serious and unacceptable shortcomings in terms of hygiene and maintenance: this is what the press release from the Eure-et-Loir prefecture states after an inspection of the Beauvoir Bakery in Châteaudun, on February 24, 2024. Inspectors from the Departmental Directorate of Employment, Labor, Solidarity and Population Protection (DDETSPP) identified a flagrant lack of maintenance and disinfection of the premises, thus highlighting an immediate danger for public health.

Among the serious infractions, agents deplored the total lack of traceability and non-compliant storage of products, thus compromising the quality of foodstuffs.
Failure to comply with the health control plan and the presence of cleaning equipment likely to cause contamination and unsanitary conditions led to a radical decision: the immediate closure of the establishment.
The lifting of this measure will be conditional on strict compliance with the health rules in force.
Another establishment in the department was targeted by this hit operation.
This is the Hot Chef restaurant located in Barjouville.
Here too, serious breaches of good hygiene rules were detected.
Reactions on social networks
The Prefecture of Eure-et-Loir has chosen the path of transparency by publishing on social networks striking images of the findings made by the control services.
This initiative was widely welcomed by many Internet users, highlighting its usefulness in raising consumer awareness of the extent of unsanitary problems in the establishments concerned.
“Well done, the Pref should communicate more about this type of closure, it would allow people to know where they are going” writes Gille D. for example under the damning images.
The prefecture's Facebook page was the scene of around a hundred comments, expressing both indignation at the violations noted and recognition of this transparent approach.
Faced with this bad publicity, will the compliance work be enough to bring customers back to these establishments?
We were unable to contact them to ask the question.
