The Greens have withdrawn their proposal to rent out the municipal billboards and make money from them.

The boards are still available to the fire department to promote young talent.

Gauting

– How can the credit side of the Gauting household be improved?

This question has been on the minds of all parties at least since the recent, extremely tough budget deliberations.

The Greens have now made a move to rent the 13 boards in the municipality that were actually intended for election advertising to local clubs and thereby make at least a little money.

But this met with resistance in the main and finance committee.

“We are withdrawing the proposal,” finally declared the group leader, Dr.

Matthias Ilg.

At the beginning, Heinz Moser explained the request.

Accordingly, there are a total of 13 billboards in the districts, some in prominent locations.

The fire department is currently using it to recruit young members.

But if the space were alternately rented out to the clubs for 20 weeks each, 10,000 to 15,000 euros could be generated annually.

“It’s not a huge amount, but it would be good for the budget,” said Moser.

Of the 13 billboards, four are permanent, the other nine are only put up during election campaigns.

Maximilian Platzer (CSU) could not agree with the application.

He recalled that the fire department relies on this highly visible self-promotion.

“Should we then charge the fire department fees?

I would refrain from doing that,” he said, referring to the sovereign tasks that the fire department takes on.

Vice Mayor Dr.

Jürgen Sklarek (MiFü) could not see any real meaning in the application.

“I find it problematic to first sponsor the clubs with grants and then take the money from them again.”

The administration's objection was of a legal nature.

Managing director Michael Groth recalled that in addition to the 13 community food banks, there are also several owned by private individuals, including on Münchner Berg.

“It becomes difficult in terms of competition law,” he argued.

“Private companies have the right not to face any competition from the municipality.” The traffic authority also has the final say on the edge of state roads because there is a risk of distraction.

“This is accepted during election campaigns.” Tobias McFaddenn (Pirates) did not understand the latter at all.

“There is enough advertising on state highways, that cannot be the criterion.”

Mayor Dr.

Brigitte Kössinger brought another aspect into the discussion, namely the effort.

“We always look at the income side.” But you also have to keep an eye on what needs to be done on the other side.

In this case, in case of doubt, it would be the building yard that has to put up the posters and remove them again.

“That also costs money and time.”

The FDP understood the request.

“We have sympathy for it,” explained Britta Hundesrügge.

As an alternative to the advertising boards, she pointed out the areas on the bus shelters where advertising for the Würmtal regional plant is currently being advertised.

“Are these spaces available?” she asked.

Dr.

Matthias Ilg took the requests to speak as an opportunity to withdraw the motion.

“We don’t want to damage the fire department,” he said.

He promised that he would now “go towards the bus shelter”.

A new application is to be expected.
