In connection with the killing of four people in the Rotenburg (Wümme) district of Lower Saxony, investigators are examining a car in front of the barracks in the city of Rotenburg.
A dpa reporter reported this from the scene on Friday morning.
According to the authorities' current knowledge, a Bundeswehr soldier is said to have shot four people on Friday night, including a child.
Rotenburg - The suspect turned himself in after the crime and was arrested by the police.
The background to the crimes was initially not known.
“A motive in the family environment cannot be ruled out,” explained the investigators.
