Due to construction work in the Grünwald leisure pool from mid-July, the swimming pool will not be usable for over a year.

However, a temporary solution is planned for swimming pool visitors.

Grünwald

– The municipality of Grünwald has to shell out over six million euros to renovate its swimming pool in the leisure pool.

The concrete surround of the stainless steel pool is dilapidated and is being replaced.

Everything around has to be renovated, the construction period will last from mid-July to the end of 2025. The good news for the swimmers: the leisure pool will remain open during the work, and there will even be an outdoor pool in the summer months.

Cost estimate revised upwards to over six million

The specialist planners commissioned developed solution concepts and provided cost calculations for the areas of concrete renovation, pool water technology and electrical installation.

The local council has now unanimously approved the renovation at the stated costs.

The original cost estimate of 5.7 million euros had to be revised upwards to 6.1 million euros.

The building authority cites the optimization of the construction site facilities as the reasons for the increase in costs, so that the measures on the ground floor and in the basement can be carried out together.

It is hoped that this will result in a faster construction process, but requires more space.

An improvement in escape routes is also cited as a price driver.

Many requirements also have to be taken into account due to fire protection.

Added to this is the general price increase.

Technology and flooring need to be renewed

The pool surround of the pool, which was built in the 1960s, needs to be renovated.

A so-called cathodic corrosion protection renovation process is used to maintain the load-bearing capacity.

To do this, all of the technology under the swimming pool ceiling must be removed and the entire floor must be replaced.

The stainless steel basin itself remains standing.

In addition, the drinking water pipes will be replaced and repairs will be made to the roof cladding and the sauna terrace.

Temporary swimming pool

From July 15th to September 15th, a temporary swimming pool will be set up on the ice rink area.

The pool should be open from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and have a water depth of 1.30 meters.

The lawn in the swimming pool garden is also available until mid-September.

However, outdoor pools and children's paddling pools must remain closed.

Showers and toilets for this pool are available in the ice rink ticket office area.

The entrance is as usual via the swimming pool ticket office and then through the garden past the permanently open kiosk towards the ice skating rink.
