The Garmisch-Partenkirchen resident announces a new political style

Garmisch-Partenkirchen

– Two days after the surprising resignation, Lilian Edenhofer is now speaking out.

The local councilor from the Free and Liberal faction for Garmisch-Partenkirchen explains in a long letter her strange actions over the weekend and at the beginning of this week.

As a reminder: Last Saturday, Edenhofer sent an email to the town hall announcing that she would resign from her position as a local councilor.

She revoked this request in a second email two days later.

What is actually behind it?

Edenhofer explains it as follows: “At that moment there was too much emotional and mental overload, and I only saw one way out of this current situation - my resignation.” She also mentions the circumstances that put a lot of pressure on the district head of the Bavarian State Sports Association clear: deep disappointment, personal hurt, mutual fighting, internal problems, frustrating local politics, permanent hostilities.

But the thought soon occurred to her that “giving up is not an option.”

She calls her sudden change of heart a “roll forward.”

She wants to take the voters' mandate seriously and emphasizes: "This decision was neither influenced by friends, political associates or Mr. Sielmann, but was made entirely by myself."

She wants to change her political style from now on.

“I will take it easier,” she also wants to emphasize her independence in the group.

“I remain the voice of citizens who are dissatisfied with local politics.” She also touches on the relationship with Mayor Elisabeth Koch (CSU).

She does not see herself as a “bitter Koch opponent”, Koch’s long-term rival or opposition politician.

“I don't agree with Ms. Koch on one point or another, and that's a good thing and necessary in a democracy.” Edenhofer is annoyed that she can hardly get through against the majority in the local council.

If you make suggestions that are “not in line” with Koch, they will be “ironed down”.

But for her it is always about moving forward and the future of the market town.

That's why she hopes for understanding.

“Everyone who supports Garmisch-Partenkirchen in this matter will understand my motives and therefore also me.”
