Rotenburg – A terrible family drama shook the Rotenburg district on Friday night.
Several shots were fired in the communities of Westervesede and Brockel, claiming the lives of four people, including a three-year-old child.
The suspected perpetrator, a Bundeswehr soldier, turned himself in that morning at the Von Düring barracks in Rotenburg.
The forensic team is working behind a police cordon at the Von Düring barracks.

Four dead in Rotenburg: the suspected perpetrator is a Bundeswehr soldier
The soldier who is currently being questioned by the police is apparently not employed at the Rotenburg barracks, as the first information that morning suggested.
However, it remains unclear whether he was connected to the barracks in the past.
After his terrible crime, the perpetrator drove a car to the barracks and turned himself in.
When police searched his car, they found ammunition and a Molotov cocktail.
Horrible bloodshed in Rotenburg: Soldier surrenders
Despite his membership in the Bundeswehr, the exact background to his person and his employment relationship is not yet known.
It is unclear whether the suspect previously worked at the barracks or what motives drove him to commit the devastating acts.
The public prosecutor's office and the police are keeping a low profile on further details in order not to jeopardize the ongoing investigation.
