Two candidates are applying for the mayor's office in Putzbrunn.

Owner Edwin Klostermeier from the SPD and Tobias Stokloßa from the CSU.

There is an election on Sunday.

Putzbrunn

– Who will be sitting at the mayor’s desk in the Putzbrunn town hall from March 28th?

Also Edwin Klostermeier (SPD), who has been in office for 18 years and wants to continue his “successful projects” for another two years.

Or the “newcomer” Tobias Stokloßa (CSU), who wants to do a lot of things differently than Klostermeier?

5,104 Putzbrunners are called to vote, including 253 first-time voters since the last local election.

By the end of the week, 1,390 eligible voters had requested their postal voting documents; the rest were called to cast their vote at one of the four polling stations on Sunday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Elected unscheduled in 2006

The mayoral election is necessary because an unscheduled election took place in 2006.

Incumbent Josef Kellermeier had to resign in 2005 after several scandals.

Klostermeier surprisingly won in 2006 against Florian Hahn (CSU), who later became a member of the Bundestag.

This was two years after the regular local and mayoral elections.

Several attempts failed to bring Putzbrunn back to the usual, joint election date for the mayor, local council and district council on one day.

Therefore, if he is elected, Klostermeier no longer wants to run for office in the next local elections after two years.

This approach is sharply criticized by the CSU and Stokloßa, "only for two years, that's not a prospect - that's why I'm running for six years," says Stokloßa.

Motto “Experience and Continuity”

Klostermeier is supported in the election by his SPD and the Greens according to the motto “Experience and Continuity”.

He made relatively few public appearances in the community and refrained from making any further appearances in the last few days before the election.

But he trusts that the Putzbrunners know him and will continue to support his way of running the mayor's office.

Stokloßa can rely on the support of Prime Minister Markus Söder as well as Bundestag member Florian Hahn and the new state parliament member Maximilian Böltl.

According to the motto: “I want to tackle the problems in Putzbrunn courageously;

“In some cases, this requires strong partners,” Stokloßa invites people to the final spurt of the election campaign on Saturday from 7 p.m. in the meeting room of the community center.

Klaus Holetschek, leader of the CSU parliamentary group in the Bavarian state parliament, Florian Hahn and Maximilian Böltl will be there.

These groups do not make any recommendations

The FWG, FDP and GPP factions do not make any election recommendations.

However, Walter Hois (GPP) said that his group would very much welcome it if the members of the municipal and district council and the mayor were elected again on the same date in 2026.
