On Friday night there was a large-scale operation by the fire brigade in Hechendorf.
Around 50 volunteers from the fire departments in Hechendorf and Murnau were called to Partenkirchner Straße after thick smoke was rising from an underground wood chip bunker.
The cause of the fire is still unclear.
Hechendorf - The fire brigade was able to quickly bring the fire under control.
Using breathing apparatus, they managed to open the bunker and get directly to the source of the fire.
It is estimated that the bunker contained around 30 cubic meters of wood chips.
Efficient firefighting
With the help of an excavator, the burning material was removed from the bunker and transported to a storage area on trailers.
All embers there could be completely extinguished, which prevented the fire from spreading further.
The fire brigade's operation was characterized by efficient and rapid firefighting, which was successfully ended after around two hours.
No injuries and quick completion of the operation
Fortunately, no one was injured during the operation.
The rapid and professional response of the fire brigade ensured that the fire could be extinguished quickly and therefore major damage was prevented.
After two hours of intensive work, the emergency services were able to announce the end of the operation.
