A memorial website for Alexei Navalny is apparently being sabotaged.
His team's YouTube channel is also apparently the target of attacks.
Moscow – The desire to be part of the memory of the late opposition critic is not only great in Russia.
Alexei Navalny's supporters also want to set an example internationally.
That's why the team of the political activist who died in Russian custody two weeks ago has released a homepage where people can light a candle digitally.
Within a few hours there were already over half a million clicks - but after a short time the number of clicks on “Remember Navalny” collapsed.
For reasons that are still unclear, the number fell to 114,000.
Hackers may have had a hand in this.
According to media reports, the Russian state had repeatedly tried to hinder the funeral and memorial service for the Kremlin critic in recent days.
Opposition in Russia: Putin's circle is sabotaging the Internet
A live stream on the deceased opposition politician's YouTube channel shows that the connection to the funeral service near Moscow keeps breaking off.
On social media, Navalny's supporters accuse the Russian state of sabotaging the Internet in the region in order to hinder transmission.
The ARD documentary “Putin's Bears - The Most Dangerous Hackers in the World” recently made it clear that Russian President Vladimir Putin is also taking digital action against his opponents.
There are Navalny memorials around the world, including one in London.

Protests against Putin at Navalny's funeral
Meanwhile, thousands attended Navalny's funeral - but there was no trace of his widow.
After the funeral in Moscow, a crowd near the cemetery chanted “No to war!”
On Friday, people expressed their protest against the military offensive against Ukraine launched by Russia more than two years ago.
“Down with the power of the murderers” and “We will not forgive,” the Navalny supporters also shouted.

In a live stream on YouTube, Navalny's team showed thousands of people shouting "Nawalny, Navalny, Navalny" behind barriers made of metal bars.
They chanted: “We do not forget.
We don’t forgive.”
Many of the mottos come from Navalny himself, which he once chanted in the streets along with tens of thousands of people during protests against the Kremlin.
Navalny's employees called on people to remain calm.
