Over 6300 photovoltaic panels and more than 3 megawatts of power for a green energy production of 4 million kilowatts per year which will guarantee savings of up to 25% on the costs for the electricity supply of families in the area who will join the energy configuration.
These are the numbers of Cer Imotorre, the largest public-private renewable energy community in Italy born on the outskirts of Bergamo and ready to come into operation in the next few days, presented today at the Giovanni XXIII Conference Centre.
Equipped with hybrid Fer systems (photovoltaic and hydroelectric) and with a total power of 3.5 megawatts, Cer Imotorre is potentially able to satisfy the energy needs of the entire population of Torre Boldone, approximately 8500 residents.
With a unique system power in Italy, one of the objectives of Cer Imotorre is to contribute to the use of the land in a conscious manner and in the next few days a column of bees with around 40 hives will be placed along the photovoltaic rows, as well as crops specifically designed to encourage the pollination activity of nomadic bees.
Finally, around a thousand shrubs will be planted along the perimeter of the photovoltaic park, as well as new plantings between one row and another.
The construction of a cycle path is also planned.
Becoming part of the community is simple: «The website www.cerimotorre.it has been activated, where citizens can report their interest in participating - underlines Laura Capelli, president of Unai Bergamo -.
The potential of Cer Imotorre is enormous: individual citizens can contribute their systems, thus multiplying the benefits for the territory and making Torre Boldone an energy autonomous town, a true ecological society".
