The victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Stabbed in the chest on February 17, a 28-year-old man was pronounced dead in a hospital center, the Nantes prosecutor's office announced on Thursday.
The man was attacked at the start of the evening, during a brawl which degenerated into a knife attack, in the very center of the city, at the Commerce intersection, known to be the Nantes tramway intersection.
No suspects
The public prosecutor Renaud Gaudeul confirmed to Le
Figaro
the reclassification of the investigation for “intentional violence with a weapon” into an investigation for “voluntary homicide”.
A judicial investigation was also opened and entrusted to an investigating judge.
The investigation carried out since the stabbing has not yet allowed the police to lay their hands on any suspects.
The murder weapon was also not found.
A tense climate reigned at the site of the attack at the time of the arrival of emergency services and police forces, whose intervention was disrupted by around thirty people exhibiting hostile behavior.
Less than 24 hours earlier, in the same area, a “clearance” operation was completed intended to dismantle deal points and fight against delinquency in the neighborhood.
A powerful action that the prefect of Loire-Atlantique, Fabrice Rigoulet-Roze, and the department's police chief came to inspect.
