Under the leadership of the new mayor Jens Müller (UWK), a lot of things are likely to change in the work of the local council in the coming years.

At the most recent meeting, the crisis committee was removed from the rules of procedure.

Kochel am See - As Jens Müller explained at the most recent meeting, he wants the various speakers to be given more skills in their fields of work and to also report regularly on this to the council.

In Kochel there are currently 18 speaker positions for the following areas: fire department, community forest, youth and family, culture and history, agriculture, real estate, maypoles, cable cars and ski lifts, seniors, social affairs and asylum, sports and sports facilities, Trimini, environment, traffic matters for each Kochel, Walchensee and Ried, water and wastewater as well as people with disabilities.

Whether it should stay that way or whether individual fields should be merged was the subject of lively discussion at the most recent meeting.

Müller suggested that it should be decided by the summer break how to reorganize.

For example, the mayor wants the right to information and access to files to be strengthened.

In addition, every speaker should be able to participate in committee meetings in an advisory capacity, even if they are not a member of this committee, and have the right to speak there.

Bundling social areas differently?

Rosi Marksteiner (center), currently responsible for youth and family, suggested bundling the five social areas differently and distributing them to four speakers who could represent each other.

She received immediate support from Third Mayor Veronika Lautenbacher (CSU), who is a senior advisor.

"The idea is good.

There are so many topics that overlap and that would make collaboration easier.”

Marksteiner cited the care of refugees as another example.

She reported on the round table in 2016 and described what a great effort it was for her and Bettina Sindlhauser (FBR) to find accommodation for the refugees from Ukraine in 2022.

“But these are not the core tasks of a local council,” objected Mayor Müller.

The district office is responsible for this.

“The district office doesn’t do anything about it,” Marksteiner replied soberly.

Who will take over the position for Trimini?

The discussion was also about whether the new local councilor Maria Bäck (UWK), as Jens Müller's successor on the list, should immediately take over his position as Trimini speaker.

The question arose as to whether this position would require some knowledge from previous years.

Müller said that he also jumped into the deep end at the time to support his parliamentary group colleague.

For this task you need “common sense”.

Second Mayor Thomas Eberl, also from the UWK, would also like to see Bäck in this position because: “It would be good to have someone young here who has a different view of things.” Ultimately, no one was mentioned in the meeting Decision.

From March there will be mayor's office hours again in Kochel, on Mondays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Müller asks you to register and would like the relevant speakers to take part here too.

“Local councilors are also invited to come.”

The local council will meet in Walchensee and Ried

It was also decided that the local council would meet publicly once a year in Walchensee and Ried.

In Walchensee the meeting will take place in the Gasthof Edeltraut, in Ried “probably in the fire station,” said Müller.

All councilors voted for it.

It was also decided that the crisis committee would be abolished.

This was founded at the height of the corona pandemic and was politically controversial.

“The danger situation no longer exists,” said Mayor Müller.

The decision was unanimous.
