First edition "David Sassoli Degree Award", "A Europe that renews, a Europe that protects, a Europe that is a beacon".
The Metropolitan City of Rome awarded two scholarships to the thesis papers discussed by the most deserving graduates, submitted to a judging commission which decided to reward the candidates, Carolina Capoccia and Samuele Marcucci.
In the "David Sassoli" room of Palazzo Valentini, the scholarships were awarded in the presence of his wife Alessandra Vittorini Sassoli, by a large delegation of ambassadors, by university professors Lucia Sergio and Mario Sirimarco, of the commission judging the theses presented.
"An exciting moment to remember the figure of president David Sassoli, and to remember him by updating the message he wanted to leave especially to the young generations who dedicate their lives to cultural and social commitment, in a historical moment in which there is a great need for young people to take matters into their own hands of our present", declared the deputy mayor of the metropolitan city of Rome, Pierluigi Sanna.
"This first edition of the award dedicated to David Sassoli to deserving female and male students particularly excites me - underlined the metropolitan councilor Mariano Angelucci - not only because we support the merit of graduates who are committed to supporting issues based on European values, but to remember those who, like the President David Sassoli, has left an indelible mark on the path of a supportive, united and welcoming Europe. The initiative, shared with the Metropolitan Council, the mayor Roberto Gualtieri and the family members of President Sassoli, will continue over the years to stimulate the young generations to take an interest in the issues of a Europe increasingly united and supportive."
