Geretsried

– The financial situation in Geretsried is not relaxed, but according to the mayor it is at least “solid”.

With two votes against, the city council approved the budget statutes for the current year at its meeting on Tuesday evening.

Numbers from the HFA meeting have not changed

Most people were already familiar with the figures that Manja Frieße from the Finance Department presented at the meeting.

There were no changes to the draft budget, which was presented in the Main and Finance Committee at the beginning of February (we reported).

The earnings budget is expected to be missing 4.5 million euros at the end of 2024.

There remains a deficit of 12.8 million euros in the financial budget.

No new loans should be taken out.

Instead, further repayments should be made (1.3 million euros).

Due to the negative balance, the financial reserves have fallen significantly: from 16.1 million euros in the previous year to 3.2 million euros.

The initial deficit was halved

“We have drawn up a solid budget,” said Mayor Michael Müller (CSU) at the city council meeting.

As reported, the initial deficit was reduced to four million.

The administration originally assumed eight million euros - massive savings were made.

“That is now very tightly calculated,” admitted the town hall boss, “but we think it is feasible.” Price increases, inflation or rising personnel costs do not necessarily make the financial situation of the largest city in the district any less tense, “but we can do well with this budget live,” said the town hall boss.

He emphasized once again that work on kindergartens and schools has priority.

“These will be the city’s major projects for the next few years.” Müller was referring to the new daycare building on Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Straße, the increase in lunchtime care at the Isardamm elementary school and the renovation of the Adalbert-Stifter middle school.

These measures are putting a strain on city finances.

The city wants to invest a total of 17.1 million this year.

Meinl: Budget is a “budget for young people”

Third mayor Gerhard Meinl (CSU) found: “Our budget is a budget for young people.” The city collects two times 18 million euros (Meinl meant trade and income tax) and about the same amount of money goes to the city Youth.

“This makes our community efficient and shows what strength our community has for the future.”

Heiko Hawla (Free Voters) emphasized that the expansion of the middle school is important to the Free Voters.

He praised the fact that there were no cuts in funding for clubs.

Hans Hopfner (SPD) noted that the result budget had a “volume of well over 60 million euros”.

With so many compulsory tasks, there is little room in the household for “make a wish”.

He also complained that the community center in Stein has become a distant memory - and is not being taken into account.

He was also interested in the old indoor swimming pool.

“What happens with it is not planned in this and probably in the next budget.”

Reeh: Little is currently being done for seniors

Volker Reeh (Geretsrieder Liste) thinks it's good that the household has been "reduced to the essentials".

Nevertheless, he also lacked clarity about the “future direction” of the old indoor swimming pool on Jahnstrasse.

This budget is “certainly right” for young people, but very little is currently being done for seniors.

What the city council cannot get used to is the planned north-south cycle connection.

“The new plans (we reported) are the wrong way forward.

We have a good and safe connection.”

Reeh also applied for the creation of two additional positions in the construction yard, primarily for people with disabilities.

However, he withdrew his application because he and the mayor agreed to move this issue to the Committee for Youth, Social Affairs, Senior Citizens, Culture and Sport.

“You might be able to try a social agency,” Müller considered.

He also pointed out that five new positions have already been planned in the construction yard.

Peter Curtius (Greens) said his party was “fundamentally satisfied” with the budget.

He did not express any criticism of his group.

With two votes against from Edmund Häner (independent) and Dr.

Elmar Immertreu (Geretsrieder List), the committee approved the budget.
