Since Covid and the aid released by the government to boost youth employment, work-study training has only progressed in numbers and in the training offering offered.

Last year it was President Emmanuel Macron who announced it in person;

the extension of aid to businesses until 2027 for the hiring of a new young person on a work-study basis: 6,000 euros in aid for businesses for everyone under 30 and for the first year of the contract.

The increase slows down: + 2% in 2023

Reform of the organization and financing of training (Skills Operators) and bonus to businesses, in a context of strong post-Covid recovery, the number of contracts jumped from 321,000 contracts signed in 2018 to more than 852,000 'last year.

The number of new work-study contracts signed is therefore stabilizing: a figure increasing by only 2% compared to 2022 after + 14% in 2022.

No structural reason explains this slowdown in the increase, the number of new contracts having reached a plateau in relation to the structure of the population?

(around 670,000 young people obtain the baccalaureate each year).

The objective is still for the government to reach one million contracts signed per year in 2027. A purely symbolic objective also because no justification has been put forward to support this objective.
